John Beacham from the support team at The Events Calendar was really a great help and in the end provided me with a solution to the problem!
He took my reported problem seriously and coordinated with his developers and wrote me back several times within a few days.
Turned out to be an incompatiblity of The Events Tickets plugin with WooCommerce’s new HPOS, as of April 2024.

I had an issue with my wp_options table growing to over 1.3 gb and the only thing I could see as the issue was a 7500 entries like _transient_tribe_views_v2_cache_d764c091076c:1684723412.9262_0. Since I saw “tribe” in the entries, I sent a support request to The Events Calendar. John Beacham answered my support ticket and not only walked me through installing the Transients Manager plugin, but also provided me with a SQL query and offered to actually set up a permanent solution on my staging site.
